The Istanbul Animal Exchange, which was established on February 13, 1929 in Karaağaç to regulate livestock trading. It was transferred to the Istanbul Commodity Exchange as of October 1943 as a result of the Law on Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, which came into force in 1943.
Livestock Exchange, continued its activities in Karaağaç until 1954. After this date, it started to provide services in its facilities that were built in Sütlüce.
When the "Golden Horn Cleaning and Development Project" started in 1988, it was decided to move the facilities to Tuzla / Aydınlıköy together with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Slaughterhouse.
The Istanbul Commodity Exchange Livestock and Meat Exchange facilities were moved to Tuzla / Aydınlıköy on January 26, 1989.
Now served with the name “The Livestock and Meat Branch”, is established on a total of 13.2 hectares, has a closed area of 25.680 m2. The facilities have a capacity of 15,000 ovine and 1,500 bovine.
The Livestock and Meat Branch has been accredited by the Republic Of Turkey Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. As is, this is the most modern and biggest livestock market in Turkey and Europe.
