TURKISH FOOD CODEX REGULATION HAS CHANGED

The amendments to the Turkish Food Codex Regulation were published in the Official Gazette dated 19 February 2020 and numbered 31044. With the regulation, the production of molasses, honey and cheese products which are real looking but fake, was banned.
With the changes made:
- Maximum amounts of coccidiostats and histomonostats, which cannot be prevented from being transported to food enzymes, contaminants, non-target feeds, in animal foods,
- Packaging, labeling,
- Classification of pharmacological active substances belonging to veterinary drugs that can be found in animal foods and maximum residue limits,
- Sampling and analysis methods, principles regarding horizontal and vertical food codex related to transportation and storage,
- Special provisions on geographical indication and special provisions on some other food and / or food groups are included in the regulations.
According to the regulation; Although it is not molasses, it gives the impression of molasses, it will not be possible to produce products with the names of fruity sugary syrup, fruit dessert, molasses syrup, fruity sugary syrup and so on.
With the changes made in the regulation; Production of products that give the impression of honey with honey flavor syrup, pine flavored syrup, honey syrup and similar names by adding flavorings or honey is also prohibited.
The regulation, which prohibits the production of products that give the impression of cheese using vegetable oil or other food ingredients, came into force as of the date of publication.
Products manufactured before the publication date of the regulation will be removed from the market by 31 December 2020 at the latest.
