Making a statement on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the May 27 Coup, Istanbul Commodity Exchange President Ali Kopuz said, "May 27 is not a revolution but a coup.

" Reminding that some of the officers who ignored the chain of command on 27 May 1960 overthrew the government which came by election, President Ali Kopuz said, "That day Republic of Turkey was elected President, elected Prime Minister, Ministers, MPs and even the Chief of Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces were arrested. All the manager's government of the Republic of Turkey came to power through in democratic ways and they had trial in an illegitimate court. At the end of this process, Prime Minister Adnan Menderes and his two valuable ministers, Foreign Minister Fatin Rüştü Zorlu and Finance Minister Hasan Polatkan were executed. 

The most painful part is that this terrible coup had been celebrating for years as Freedom and Constitution Day. There are those who are still in the stalemate of saying “revolution” to 27 May. May 27 is not a revolution but the blackness of Turkish political life and is a terrible coup.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, who died in the gallows of the coup plotters, I commemorate the Minister of Foreign Affairs Fatin Rüştü Zorlu and the Minister of Finance Hasan Polatkan with peace.
